FAQs

Will the treatment be painful?

We will take every measure to ensure that your procedure is as comfortable as possible through the utilization of advanced anesthetic technology and techniques. For most patients, the feeling of numbness usually subsides in 2-3 hours. If you are experiencing a high level of anxiety and wish to explore methods of anxiolysis, we encourage you to schedule a consultation appointment to discuss your options.

Will I have pain after my root canal?

While most patients are quite comfortable following treatment, some may experience discomfort. You will be provided with medications and aftercare instructions to minimize your discomfort over the next few days. In addition, each patient will receive a number to contact Dr. Batz should they need information after hours. Your comfort and health is our top priority.

I’m worried about X-Rays, should I be?

No, because our office uses the highest quality digital imaging machines and sensors resulting in over 90% reduction in radiation exposure.

I’m worried about infection.

We take your care seriously and adhere to the most rigorous standards of infection control advocated by OSHA, the CDC and the American Dental Association. We utilize autoclave sterilization and barrier techniques to eliminate any risk of infection. Our office is equipped with HEPA filters to maintain the highest air quality for our patients.

What happens after treatment?

When root canal therapy is completed, we will send a report to your restorative dentist outlining our findings and any treatment performed. You should contact his/her office for a follow-up restoration within two weeks. Your restorative dentist will determine what type of restoration is best to protect your tooth. It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic therapy or microsurgery. If a problem does occur or if you have questions following treatment or after hours, we are available to respond.

Will I need to return to your office for follow-up care after the procedure is finished?

Yes, for most root canal treatments, we recommend that patients return to the office one year after treatment was completed. Our office will send you a reminder notice when you are due for a recall appointment.
